Tourists from 53 eligible countries can once again apply for an electronic visa before traveling to Kuwait.
After a temporary suspension lasting a few weeks to improve its system, Kuwait has resumed issuing electronic visas. Applications can now be submitted through the updated website: kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw.
As explained last month by Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior, the suspension of the previous portal (evisa.moi.gov.kw) aimed to “develop and enhance” the service for users. During the maintenance period, visitors were still able to obtain a tourist visa upon arrival in Kuwait.
With this new portal, Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior offers a platform better tailored to applicants’ needs, whether they are tourists or, soon, business travelers or residents hosting visitors.
How to apply for an electronic visa to Kuwait
After creating an account on the “Kuwait Visa” portal, tourists from the 53 eligible countries and territories must complete an online form providing the following information:
- Passport details: Number, issuance date, expiration date
- Traveler information: Full name, date of birth, nationality, gender, etc.
- Religion
- Marital status
- Profession
- Mobile phone number
- Details of previous visits to Kuwait, if any
Applicants must also upload the following documents online:
- A passport-sized photo
- The passport’s data page
- A confirmed hotel reservation (or the address of the host in Kuwait)
The electronic visa fee is 3 Kuwaiti dinars (KWD), approximately 10 €/$, payable online.
