India is continuing to expand the scope of its electronic visa system. Authorities have added 14 seaports to the list of authorized entry points for travelers holding an e-Visa.
The change affects several facilities located in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha. According to information released yesterday by India’s Ministry of Home Affairs, e-Visa services have been operational at these ports since March 19, 2026.
For international travelers, this update creates new options for arriving in India by sea, at a time when the e-Visa is playing an increasingly important role in the country’s entry procedures. It may be relevant both for certain cruise passengers and for business travelers reaching India via specific maritime routes.
14 new seaports now authorized for entry with an e-Visa
The newly designated ports are Alang, Bedi Bandar, Bhavnagar, Porbandar, Hazira, Pipavav, and Mandvi in the state of Gujarat; Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, and Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu; Kakinada and Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh; and Paradip and Dhamra in Odisha.
These additions further expand the map of authorized entry points for holders of an Indian e-Visa. Until now, the system had already been broadened in stages, with new airports, seaports, and land border crossings added over recent months. This latest update confirms that India is continuing to develop its access network for travelers eligible to use the electronic procedure.
The expansion may also be of interest to the tourism sector, particularly for certain maritime arrivals and potentially for cruise travel. Most of the newly added ports, however, are not major tourist ports, but primarily commercial seaports.
70 entry points in India are now available for travelers with an e-Visa
