Cambodia lowers electronic visa prices

Good news for travelers: Cambodia has decided to revise its electronic visa prices downwards, making access to the country more affordable for international tourists and professionals.

From January 1ᵉʳ 2025, the Cambodian government will revise downwards the prices of its electronic visa (e-Visa).

According to a government announcement, the price of the electronic tourist visa (e-Visa T) will drop from US$36 to US$30, while that of the electronic business visa (e-Visa E) will be lowered from US$42 to US$35.

The government has also asked the relevant ministries and institutions to improve and facilitate the procedures for issuing e-Visa and Cambodia e-Arrival registration. The aim is to create a unified government ecosystem that simplifies procedures for travelers, reducing administrative hurdles and encouraging more visits and investment.

These initiatives aim to attract more foreign tourists and investors, by making Cambodia more accessible, both financially and administratively.

The electronic visa for Cambodia

Introduced in 2006, the electronic visa for Cambodia is designed to simplify administrative procedures for travellers.

Accessible via the official Cambodian government platform evisa.gov.kh, or from the “Cambodia eVisa” mobile application (iOS | Android), it enables applicants to apply for a visa without having to physically visit an embassy or consulate. Applicants simply fill in a form, upload the required documents, and make payment online.

Once approved and sent by e-mail, the e-visa is valid for 3 months and allows a stay of up to 30 days in Cambodia.

E-visa holders can enter Cambodia from the following checkpoints:

  • Phnom Penh International Airport;
  • Siem Reap International Airport;
  • Sihanoukville International Airport;
  • Bavet (Svay Rieng) – border with Vietnam;
  • Cham Yeam (Koh Kong) – border with Thailand;
  • Poi Pet (Banteay Meanchey) – border with Thailand;
  • Tropeang Kreal (Stung Treang) – border with Laos.

“Cambodia e-Arrival” registration

Launched in 2024, “Cambodia e-Arrival” is an innovative system designed to improve the visitor experience by simplifying entry into the country.

Accessible from arrival.gov.kh or via the official “Cambodia e-Arrival” app available on the AppStore and Google Play Store, the system allows travelers to pre-register their personal, immigration, health and customs information before arriving in the country, reducing formalities at the airport.

This travel declaration can be submitted online within 7 days before arrival in Cambodia, and is free of charge.

With the forthcoming integration of the new single ecosystem, this service will become even smoother, guaranteeing rapid passage through immigration and bringing Cambodia into line with international standards for welcoming tourists.

Over 6 million international visitors to Cambodia by 2024

Cambodia expects to welcome around 6.7 million foreign visitors and 22 million domestic tourists in 2024, exceeding the figures recorded before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019.

As tourism is one of the four pillars of the Cambodian economy, alongside exports of clothing, footwear and travel goods, agriculture, and construction and real estate, these measures should boost the country’s economic growth and competitiveness on the international stage.
