Ghana’s official e-Visa portal continues to evolve four months after its launch.
Checks carried out by VisasNews on September 25, 2026, show that the application form now offers 48 ports of entry into Ghana, compared with just seven airports during our previous tests.
The change applies both to tourist and business e-Visa applications submitted by travelers who require a visa and to the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) available to African passport holders.
The official evisa.immigration.gov.gh portal now states that the e-Visa can be presented digitally or in printed form “at any Ghana port of entry.” It also says the document is “valid at all Ghana international airports and border crossings.”
Land and maritime border crossings are now available
The seven airports previously offered remain available: Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi, Sunyani, Wa and Ho.
They are now joined by 37 land border crossings and four maritime or waterway entry points.

Among the newly available options are Aflao and Akanu, on the border with Togo, Paga in northern Ghana, Elubo on the border with Côte d’Ivoire, as well as the ports of Tema and Takoradi.
Several Ghanaian diplomatic mission websites remain under maintenance
The expansion of the e-Visa system comes as the online services of several Ghanaian diplomatic missions have still not fully returned to normal.
On August 18, VisasNews reported that the websites of a number of Ghanaian embassies and high commissions had become unavailable, including those in Paris, London, Washington, Madrid, Brussels, Bern, Ottawa, New York and Tokyo.
Since then, the situation has improved only partially.
The websites of Ghana’s missions in London, Washington and New York are accessible again. Several other missions, however, continue to display maintenance pages.
In Ottawa, the Ghana High Commission currently states that its official website is “undergoing an upgrade” as part of efforts to provide “a more accessible and efficient digital experience.” It apologizes for the inconvenience and says that passport and e-Visa services remain available through dedicated links while the work is underway.
Similar maintenance notices can still be seen on the websites of Ghanaian missions in Paris, Brussels, Bern, Madrid and Tokyo.
The September 7 deadline has passed
The length of the disruption is particularly notable because several diplomatic missions had previously said that their websites and online services were expected to be restored “no later than September 7, 2026.”
More than two weeks after that deadline, services have therefore still not fully returned to normal.
For travelers, however, the situation does not prevent electronic visa applications from being submitted. The national Ghana eVisa portal, operated by the Ghana Immigration Service in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, remains accessible and operational. Travelers can use it to check their eligibility, submit and pay for an application, and track its status online.

The addition of 48 ports of entry to the application form marks a significant change to Ghana’s e-Visa system. The electronic visa is no longer presented as a formality limited to air arrivals: travelers can now select land border crossings and maritime entry points for both tourist and business e-Visas, as well as for the ETA available to African travelers.
