For travelers heading to India, the 30-day tourist e-Visa is becoming more flexible.
The 30-day e-Tourist Visa, also known under the code e-T1 V, now appears to allow multiple entries. Until now, this category of electronic visa allowed two entries into India during the validity period of the ETA.
The change applies to travelers applying for a short-stay e-Tourist Visa for India. The authorized length of stay remains 30 days, but the number of permitted entries is now more flexible, allowing travelers to enter the country several times during the validity of their authorization.
The 30-day e-Tourist Visa now allows multiple entries
The change is visible on recently issued electronic travel authorizations.
ETAs approved since June 12, 2026, for a 30-day e-Tourist Visa now display the wording “Multiple entries.” Travelers should therefore carefully check their authorization after approval, including the visa category, the deadline for first entry, the authorized length of stay and the number of entries granted.

This change may make some trips easier to organize, especially regional itineraries involving several entries into India. It could apply, for example, to trips combining India with Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Bhutan or other nearby destinations.
The first-entry window was already extended to four months in December
This update follows an earlier easing of the 30-day e-Tourist Visa rules.
As of December 18, the first-entry window for this electronic travel authorization has been extended to 120 days, up from 30 days previously. Travelers now have more time between the issuance of their ETA and their first arrival in India.
This four-month validity window does not change the authorized length of stay. The e-Tourist Visa still allows travelers to stay in India for up to 30 days from the date they enter the country.
Travelers who need a longer-valid authorization can use other e-Tourist Visa categories, when eligible: the one-year and five-year tourist e-Visas. Both allow multiple entries. For these two categories, the total stay in India must not exceed 180 days per calendar year.
The ETA must also be completed with the e-Arrival Card
The e-Tourist Visa is not limited to traditional tourism.
It also covers visits to friends or relatives, short-term yoga programs, certain short-term volunteer activities and informal courses lasting less than six months, provided they do not lead to a degree or formal qualifying certificate.
The tourist e-Visa remains non-extendable, non-convertible and subject to India’s standard entry rules. As with any Indian e-Visa, the ETA does not automatically guarantee entry into the country: the final decision rests with immigration authorities upon arrival.
Travelers should also remember that the e-Arrival Card is required in addition to the ETA. It must be completed online within 72 hours before arrival in India.
