In a statement released on December 31, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic announced the entry into force of Resolution No. 855 of the Cabinet of Ministers, amending the rules applicable to foreign nationals traveling to Kyrgyz territory.
Under the new regulations, citizens of 55 countries may now enter and remain in Kyrgyzstan without a visa or registration requirement for a maximum cumulative period of 30 calendar days within a 60-day period, starting from the date of entry into the country.
Once this authorized period has expired, affected travelers must either leave the country or apply for a residence document in accordance with national legislation (visa, residence permit, or temporary authorization).
This measure represents a tightening of the previous regime. Until the end of 2025, nationals of the countries concerned were allowed to stay in Kyrgyzstan visa-free for up to 60 days within a 120-day period.
According to the authorities, the resolution aims to “optimize and streamline migration processes”, improve the clarity of the rules applicable to foreign nationals, and align national legislation with the state’s migration policy priorities.

The reduction in the duration of visa-free stays applies to nationals of the following 55 countries and territories:

Different rules for other nationalities
In a supplementary statement, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that Resolution No. 855 forms part of a broader reform of regulations governing the movement of foreign nationals, amending Decree No. 541 of October 10, 2023, which concerns the procedure for the stay of foreign citizens.
Accordingly, specific rules apply to other categories of travelers:
- Nationals of member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia) may stay up to 90 days within a 180-day period without residence formalities.
- Citizens of Uzbekistan may remain 60 days within a 180-day period without a visa, unless otherwise provided for by international agreements.
- Nationals of Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Mongolia are entitled to a visa-free stay of 90 days within a 180-day period.
- Finally, citizens of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain may stay up to 180 days within a 360-day period without a visa.
Kyrgyz authorities urge foreign travelers and host parties to take these new rules into account when planning their trips, in order to avoid overstaying and to comply with current migration legislation.
Possibility of using an electronic visa to travel to Kyrgyzstan
As is the case in most Central Asian countries, travelers wishing to extend their stay beyond the duration permitted under the visa-free regime may apply for an electronic visa (e-Visa).
This system, in place since 2017, allows applications to be submitted online via the official portal: www.evisa.e-gov.kg.
The e-Visa system is available to nationals of many eligible countries and provides an administrative alternative for tourist, business, or private stays that exceed the thresholds established under visa-free regulations.
