Travelers who need a visa to visit Cuba now have a new online portal to submit their applications.

On Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Cuba’s Ministry of Tourism, through its office in Canada, announced a new official website for electronic visa applications: www.consular.cu.

The announcement comes after the previous eVisaCuba portal remained inaccessible on November 3, despite an initially scheduled reopening on November 2.

Since October 29, Cuban authorities have been migrating the country’s electronic visa system, known as “Evisa1,” to a new version called “Evisa2.”

Initial checks conducted by VisasNews confirm that users can access the application form, select the appropriate consular service, and view the applicable visa fees.

Three types of Cuban visas now available through the new portal

Travelers can access the service through Cuba’s official consular services portal, operated by the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The platform offers interfaces in English, Spanish, and French.

From the homepage, users can select “Start” and then the option to apply for a digital visa to begin the process. The portal also includes a visa verification service where applicants can check the status and validity of their visas.

One of the most significant changes is the expansion of available visa categories.

According to Cuba’s Ministry of Tourism, the new system allows travelers to apply for a tourist visa, family visa, or business exploration visa.

Previously, the eVisaCuba system was primarily intended for travelers seeking electronic tourist visas.

All three categories appeared in the application form reviewed by VisasNews after selecting the country where the application would be submitted and the appropriate Cuban consular office.

How to apply for a Cuban e-Visa through the new portal

VisasNews tested the various steps of the new application process. The procedure includes email verification, selection of a consular office and visa category, entry of personal information, and payment arrangements.

1. Access the portal and verify your email address

After opening the visa application service, users must enter a valid email address and complete an on-screen CAPTCHA verification.

A message is then sent to that email address, allowing applicants to verify their identity and proceed with the application.

2. Select your country of application and visa type

Once the email address has been verified, applicants are prompted to select the country where they are applying and the appropriate Cuban consular office.

For applicants submitting their request from the United States, the platform allows them to select the United States and the Cuban Embassy in Washington, D.C.

The system then displays the consular office’s contact information, including its address at 2630 16th Street NW, Washington, D.C.

Applicants can choose from three visa categories: tourist visa, family visa, or business exploration visa.

The portal also displays the payment methods accepted by the selected consular office, along with the applicable visa fee.

3. Enter the traveler’s personal information

Applicants must then provide personal details, including their nationality, passport number, first and last names, date of birth, and sex.

An email address must also be entered and confirmed, while the phone number field appears to be optional.

The platform additionally requires applicants to upload an image of their passport in PNG, JPG, or JPEG format.

4. Add additional travelers if needed

The new system allows applicants to submit multiple visa requests as part of a single application process.

After entering the first traveler’s information, users can add up to nine additional applications, bringing the total to 10 visa requests.

The amount due is automatically calculated based on the number of applications submitted.

This feature could make the process more convenient for families and groups seeking electronic visas for several travelers at once.

5. Review the application summary and payment instructions

At the final stage, the platform displays a summary of the applicant’s information, a breakdown of consular fees, and the payment methods accepted by the selected consular office.

Unlike many other countries’ electronic visa systems, Cuba’s new portal does not offer direct online payment by credit or debit card.

Applicants must instead pay the applicable fees using one of the methods specified by their consular office and then upload proof of payment directly to the platform as part of their visa application.

Cuban tourist visa costs $50 for applications submitted in the United States

During testing conducted by VisasNews, selecting a tourist visa through the Cuban Embassy in Washington, D.C., displayed a fee of $50 per application.

The portal lists six payment methods for this consular office: cash, bank transfer, money order, payment through a point-of-sale (POS) terminal, bank deposit, and check.

Although the listed options include a POS terminal, this does not mean applicants can pay by credit or debit card directly through the online application portal.

Instead, applicants must follow the payment instructions provided by the consular office and submit proof of payment through the website.

This arrangement reflects the broader financial restrictions that have complicated Cuba’s access to international banking networks and payment processing services for years.

U.S. economic sanctions have contributed to the breakdown of banking relationships between foreign financial institutions and Cuban organizations, including some Cuban diplomatic and consular missions abroad.

These restrictions have made it more difficult for Cuban institutions to access the international payment services commonly used by government websites and electronic visa platforms.

For now, travelers must follow the payment procedures established by the Cuban consular office handling their applications.

A dedicated section for travel agencies

The updated portal is not limited to travelers applying for visas individually.

According to the official user manual published by Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the new platform also includes a dedicated section for travel agencies.

This restricted-access area allows agencies that have agreements with Cuban consular offices to manage electronic visa applications on behalf of their clients.

The system includes tools for tracking applications, managing payments, and administering related services.

Access is limited to officially registered travel agencies that have contractual agreements with Cuban consular offices.

Travelers must still complete the D’Viajeros form before entering Cuba

The introduction of the new consular portal does not eliminate Cuba’s other entry requirements.

Travelers must still complete the electronic D’Viajeros form, which collects immigration, health, and customs information required by Cuban authorities upon arrival.

The declaration must be submitted within 72 hours before travel.

D’Viajeros is a separate requirement from the electronic visa application and remains mandatory even for travelers who have already obtained their Cuban e-Visa.

VisasNews Take

With its new consular portal, Cuba is expanding the electronic visa options available to international travelers. Applications are no longer limited to tourism, with family visits and business exploration now included in the system. The platform also allows users to submit up to 10 visa applications in a single process, select their preferred consular office, and view the applicable fees and payment methods. These changes represent an important modernization of Cuba’s visa application process, making it easier for individual travelers, families, and groups to manage their travel paperwork.
