In recent years, Cambodia has gradually digitized entry procedures into the country.
Today, visitors can apply for an electronic visa (e-Visa), obtained entirely online, which simplifies the process of getting travel authorization.
Travelers can also complete the electronic arrival form (e-Arrival) before departure, designed to replace the old paper cards once handed out on the plane.
These innovations, which make trip preparation easier while also improving border security and efficiency, mark a shift toward a more connected travel experience.
To take modernization a step further, Cambodia introduced the v-Pass (Visitor Pass) on July 1, 2025. This digital document is automatically generated when passing through immigration.
Cambodia: What is the v-Pass?
The v-Pass has been in effect since July 2025 at all international airports and seaports in the country. It replaces both the traditional passport entry/exit stamps and the QR code sticker.
According to Cambodia’s General Department of Immigration, “the transition to the paperless system will significantly enhance security and accelerate the immigration procedure resulting in an improved experience of all traveler.”
After presenting a passport, visa, and completing immigration, travelers automatically receive their v-Pass by email. The document is also available in the Cambodia e-Arrival app (iOS | Android), or it can be downloaded directly from arrival.gov.kh.
The v-Pass now serves as the official proof of entry and stay in Cambodia, and must be kept throughout the trip.
How the v-Pass works
Upon arrival in Cambodia:
- Present your passport and visa;
- Your entry is recorded by the immigration officer;
- You receive your v-Pass by email or in the app.
During your stay:
- The v-Pass may be requested during checks;
- It is accepted in digital or printed format;
- The authorized length of stay is listed on it.
When departing Cambodia:
- Present your passport to immigration;
- Your exit is automatically recorded;
- No exit stamp is required.
