Egypt: is the visa-on-arrival fee about to increase?

An internal document circulated by the Egyptian Travel Agents Association (E.T.A.A.) refers to a forthcoming increase in the visa-on-arrival fee in Egypt. At this stage, however, the announcement still needs to be officially confirmed by the Egyptian authorities.

In a circular described as “important and urgent,” the Egyptian Travel Agents Association (E.T.A.A.) informed its members of a decision that is said to have been made regarding the fee for visas issued on arrival at Egyptian airports.

According to the document, the visa-on-arrival in Egypt fee would increase from $25 to $30, effective March 1, 2026.

“We hereby inform you that it has been decided to increase the fee for entry visas issued upon arrival at Egyptian entry points to 30 U.S. dollars instead of 25 U.S. dollars, effective March 1, 2026,” the document states.

The circular urges agencies to “take note and implement the necessary measures.”

At this stage, the communication comes from a professional organization representing Egyptian travel agencies. No official announcement from the relevant ministries, no publication in the Official Gazette, and no communication from Egyptian embassies have yet formally confirmed this potential price change.

Only the visa-on-arrival in Egypt would be affected

According to the wording of the document, the measure would apply exclusively to visas issued upon arrival at Egyptian entry points.

There is no mention of the electronic visa (e-Visa) issued through the official platform, visa2egypt.gov.eg, nor of consular visas obtained from Egyptian embassies and consulates.

As it stands, and pending official confirmation, these two categories of visas would therefore not be affected by the potential increase.

A few weeks ago, several media outlets reported that the price of the Egyptian visa had risen from $25 to $45, a claim that was quickly and formally denied by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

At the time, the authorities explained that the legislative amendments in question concerned only the establishment of a legal maximum fee, not an actual increase in the current rate. In practice, travelers continue to pay $25 for a single-entry visa and $60 for a multiple-entry visa.
