Several Bangladeshi embassies are currently reporting difficulties processing visa applications.
In Berlin, the embassy says technical problems affecting the central system of the Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP) have temporarily made the server used for Machine Readable Visas (MRV) unavailable.
As a result, the mission is experiencing delays in processing visa and No Visa Required (NVR) applications, as well as in issuing the corresponding documents.
Disruptions also reported in London and Bangkok
On September 23, 2026, the Bangladesh High Commission in London published a notice reporting a technical issue causing delays in the processing and issuance of visas and NVR endorsements.
The diplomatic mission is asking applicants to allow additional processing time while the issue continues and says further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
On September 29, the Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok also warned applicants of a temporary technical problem affecting the visa server, which may cause difficulties when submitting applications or accessing visa-related services.
Technical teams are working to restore normal service.
Online visa application portal remains accessible
During checks carried out on September 29 by the travel documentation experts at VisasNews and Action-Visas, Bangladesh’s official visa application portal, visa.gov.bd, remained accessible and appeared to be operating normally.
The website continues to provide access to new visa applications, incomplete applications, application tracking and reprint functions. The portal explains that applicants can complete the form online before printing it and submitting it, together with the required supporting documents, to the appropriate Bangladeshi diplomatic mission.
The fact that the public-facing portal remains accessible does not necessarily mean that the entire consular processing system is operating normally. The notices issued by diplomatic missions mainly concern the central system used to process and issue visas.
The official portal for Bangladesh’s digital arrival and departure card also remains accessible and operational at this time.
Until full service is restored, travelers with pending applications are therefore advised to allow additional processing time and monitor updates from the embassy or High Commission handling their application.
