AFCON 2025: Morocco launches “Yalla,” the Fan ID and e-Visa app for supporters

For the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, CAF is banking on 'Yalla,' an app that combines Fan ID and e-Visa. Designed to manage stadium access and simplify procedures for international visitors, it is set to become the central tool of the fan experience during the tournament.

During the last two World Cups in Qatar and Russia, the Fan ID set a new standard for managing major sporting events, combining digital identity with streamlined entry through an integrated visa system.

For the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, Morocco is adopting the same model with the “Yalla” app, designed as the single entry point for fans.

Available starting September 25, 2025, the app will centralize all services: ticketing, fan registration, and, for international visitors subject to visa requirements, a dedicated electronic visa application.

One of the core features of the “Yalla” app is the Fan ID, a true digital identity card for supporters. Without it, fans will not be allowed into stadiums or fan zones.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) explained that: “the Yalla App, that will be launched on 25 September 2025, will serve as the gateway for fans. Every ticket holder will have to register for a Fan ID through the app, enabling seamless stadium and fan zone access.”

For international fans who need a visa to travel to Morocco, the app will also provide a one-stop shop for obtaining a special AFCON 2025 e-Visa, streamlining paperwork and easing travel.

“The Yalla app also introduces the E-Visa for AFCON, allowing supporters worldwide to apply digitally,” said CAF.

“Fans will enjoy real-time updates, tailored information, and exclusive tournament content, making Morocco 2025 the most connected TotalEnergies CAF AFCON ever,” the governing body of soccer in Africa added.

The “Yalla” app will be available starting September 25, 2025.

The launch of “Yalla” will coincide with the opening of the first ticket sales phases.

On September 25, 2025, a presale will be reserved for Visa cardholders, followed on September 27 by sales to the general public. Additional sales windows are scheduled in October, leading up to the general sale on November 21.

Beyond administrative services, Yalla is designed as a digital hub for fans: real-time notifications, exclusive content, simplified access to official venues, and enhanced security through stricter identity checks. CAF and the Local Organizing Committee are banking on a connected, secure fan experience in line with the global trend of digital-first sporting events.

An extension of Morocco’s e-Visa system launched in 2022

The launch of “Yalla” builds on Morocco’s momentum since 2022, when the country introduced a national e-Visa system aimed at simplifying entry procedures and boosting its tourism appeal.

Currently, Morocco’s e-Visa program applies to three categories of travelers:

  • Citizens of Azerbaijan, Benin, Guatemala, India, Israel, Jordan, and Thailand with a valid ordinary passport.
  • Foreign nationals subject to visa requirements and legally residing in the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, Norway, Switzerland, or New Zealand, holding a valid residence permit.
  • Foreign nationals subject to visa requirements and holders of a non-electronic visa issued by the Schengen area, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, or New Zealand, provided it is a valid multiple-entry visa.

For AFCON 2025, this system will be adapted and directly integrated into the official app, enabling eligible international fans to complete their travel and stadium access formalities online in just a few clicks.

Royal Air Maroc expands flight network for AFCON 2025

Ahead of AFCON 2025, Royal Air Maroc has unveiled a large-scale plan to facilitate international travel for fans heading to Morocco.

The Moroccan national carrier will operate more than 660 additional flights during the tournament, representing a capacity increase of over 50%. These flights will cover major routes across Europe, Africa, and the transatlantic region.

As CAF’s official global partner, Royal Air Maroc aims to carry around 500,000 fans, offering special deals and integrated packages (flight + accommodation + match ticket) to enhance the travel experience.

Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport will serve as the main hub, coordinating the expanded operations and handling the exceptional passenger traffic expected during the event.
