Thailand: The TM6 immigration form goes digital with the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

From May 1, 2025, Thailand will adopt a new digital immigration system: the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). This system will replace the paper TM6 form, with the aim of simplifying entry procedures for foreign travelers.

Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports today confirmed the preparation of a forthcoming online system for the TM6 immigration form, renamed Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) for the occasion and scheduled to be operational from 1ᵉʳ May 2025.

The TM6 form was an arrival and departure card that foreigners had to fill in when entering and leaving Thailand. It collected personal information (surname, first name, date of birth,…) passport data, address of stay in Thailand, etc. Traditionally, this form was distributed to passengers during flights to Thailand or available at immigration checkpoints.

In July 2022, in order to reduce airport congestion and speed up the immigration process, the Thai government temporarily suspended the requirement to complete the TM6 form for arrivals by air. This suspension was then extended to the country’s main land and sea checkpoints. The aim was to facilitate border crossings and boost tourism by cutting red tape.

In October 2024, the government announced a further extension of the TM6 form suspension until April 30, 2025, while working on the introduction of an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system for visa-exempt travelers.

Introduction of the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has confirmed that the new TDAC electronic arrival card system should be operational from 1ᵉʳ May 2025. This digital process will therefore replace the paper TM6 form and allow foreign travelers to complete immigration formalities online before arriving in Thailand.

Nattareeya Thaweewong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, says today that “the provision of the TM6 online service is one of the important measures to promote Thai tourism, facilitating the entry of tourists and travelers into the country”.

“The TDAC system has now been developed and is being linked to data from relevant agencies, including the Department of Disease Control, airlines and customs agencies. The system is scheduled to be fully operational from May 1, 2025,” explains the ministerial press release.

As with their electronic visa (e-Visa), the Thai authorities hope that this transition to a digital immigration form will improve the efficiency of border controls, reduce waiting times and provide a smoother experience for international travelers. Detailed information on how TDAC works and the procedures to be followed will be communicated by the authorities at a later date.

  1. We are booked to fly to Thailand on the 9th May. If we process our online TM6 on the 1st May, will this be processed in time for our trip?

    Reply
  2. After 1st of May when filling in the electronic TM6 form, when do you fill it in, how long before you fly can you fill it in or do you fill it in on the flight or at the airport in Thailand, how do you fill it in if you dont have a smart phone.
    Thank you
