Belarus extends visa waiver for Europeans for another year

Originally due to expire on December 31, the visa-free entry to Belarus granted to citizens of 38 European countries has been extended until December 31, 2025.

Introduced in 2022 for its neighbors Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, visa-free entry to Belarus by air and land was extended to citizens of 35 European countries last July.

Today, the National Border Committee of Belarus announces that visa-free entry for citizens of European countries has been extended until the end of 2025.

On its Telegram channel, the government body in charge of border policy for the Belarusian state explains that “in view of the popularity of ‘visa-free’ entry to Belarus among foreigners, the head of state has decided to extend this program for citizens of 38 European countries. Foreigners will be able to continue to travel to Belarus without a visa up to and including December 31, 2025.”

According to the authorities, since the start of this visa-free regime in 2022, more than a million citizens of European countries have visited Belarus. “Visa-free entry is most popular among tourists from neighboring European Union countries – Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, as well as Germany, Estonia, Italy, France and the United Kingdom,” says the State Border Committee.

38 European countries exempt from visa requirements for 30 days in Belarus

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has therefore extended the visa-free regime for citizens of 38 European countries until December 31, 2025, enabling them to visit Belarus visa-free for stays of up to 30 consecutive days per unlimited entry and a maximum of 90 days per calendar year.

Travelers benefiting from this visa waiver can enter Belarus through all international land and air checkpoints, provided they present a travel document valid for at least 90 days after leaving the country. It is important to note that this procedure does not apply to holders of diplomatic, service or special passports.

Until December 31, 2025, citizens of the following 38 European countries and territories can therefore enter Belarus without a visa, via all the country’s checkpoints, and stay for 30 days:
