Lao authorities are temporarily granting a 180-day validity period for e-Visa approval letters, up from the usual 60 days. Approval notifications sent to travelers now explicitly mention the measure, which does not change the permitted length of stay in Laos, still limited to 30 days.
Since September 1, 2025, foreign travelers visiting Laos must complete an online arrival and departure card before crossing the border. The system is currently in place at four international checkpoints.
Until the end of the year, Laos is extending its visa exemption policy and increasing visa validity for tourists from certain countries.
To boost its tourism industry, Laos might expand its list of visa-exempt countries.
